Managing Assets
VenueTrack tracks every physical piece of equipment with full lifecycle data — from purchase and deployment through depreciation, transfer, repair, and retirement.
Overview
The Asset model links to a Location, an optional Product (catalog entry), and an owning department. Assets support parent/child relationships for assemblies (e.g., a chassis containing sub-components), rack mounting via a pivot table, and a "source of truth" power spec system where instance-level overrides merge with product-level blueprints.
Who is this for?
AV technicians and asset managers tracking equipment across venues — serial numbers, warranty status, purchase costs, depreciation, repair history, and current location for every piece of gear.
Key Features
- Consolidated asset detail page — Location, product specs, power data, rack position, deficiency history, repair records, documents, transfer history, and financial data are organized into tabbed sections.
- Automatic depreciation — Calculated using straight-line or declining balance methods from purchase price, useful life, and residual value.
- Total cost of ownership — Aggregates purchase price plus all repair costs.
- Power spec inheritance — Assets inherit power specs from their linked product but can override individual values at the instance level.
- Full-text search — Spans name, serial number, asset tag, product, manufacturer, and location.
- Parent/child relationships — Model assemblies such as a chassis with sub-components.
