Custom Asset Statuses

Organizations can define their own asset lifecycle stages beyond the system defaults, with custom colors, sort order, and system-flag mapping.

Overview​

AssetStatus records are org-scoped with a name, hex color, system flag (active/inactive/retired), sort order, and default designation. Two workflow-managed statuses — In Transit and In Repair — are system-controlled and shown separately. The default status is automatically applied to new assets.

Who is this for?​

Organizations with specific lifecycle terminology — e.g., "Commissioned," "Standby," "End of Life" — that want visual consistency in dashboards and lists.

Key Features​

  • Color picker with hex input — Ensures brand-consistent status indicators across the application.
  • System flag mapping — Maps each custom status to "active," "inactive," or "retired" so the application can apply the correct business logic regardless of the display name.
  • Deletion safeguards — Prevents deletion of the default status or any status that has linked assets.
  • Workflow-managed statuses — In Transit and In Repair are shown separately with live asset counts.
