Product Catalog
A master database of equipment models that serves as blueprints for asset instances — storing manufacturer, form factor, rack specs, power requirements, and configurable option groups.
Overview
The Product model stores physical specs (rack units, depth, weight), power specs, and links to a manufacturer and category. Products have OptionGroups (e.g., "Power Connectors", "Video Resolutions") that can be assigned at the category or product level. A completeness score (0--100%) rates each product on five criteria: manufacturer, category, model number, physical specs, and option data fill rate.
Who is this for?
Equipment librarians and procurement teams who want a centralized catalog so new gear can be linked to a product and inherit its specs.
Key Features
- Completeness percentage — Shown inline on product cards to encourage thorough documentation.
- Data quality report — Surfaces products with missing specs so gaps can be addressed proactively.
- Reusable option groups — Option groups are shared across products and categories; changes propagate automatically.
- Per-product option group exclusion — A product can opt out of inherited category groups when they do not apply.
- Consumable parts linking — Tracks which products use which replacement parts.
- Form factors — Rackmount, Chassis, Standalone, Portable, Integrated, and Installed.
