Rack Infrastructure Builder

A visual rack layout designer for managing equipment mounting in server/AV racks, with slot-level precision across front, rear, and top mounting faces.

Overview

The Rack model tracks total rack units, supported faces (front/rear/top), and physical dimensions. Equipment is mounted via a rack assignments pivot with face and starting slot. The builder validates slot availability, checks for range overlaps, detects depth conflicts between front and rear equipment, and supports physically blocked slots.

Who is this for?

AV engineers and IT infrastructure teams who need to plan and document rack layouts.

Key Features

  • Visual slot-by-slot layout — Drag-and-drop mounting for intuitive rack planning.
  • Real-time utilization calculations — Per-face metrics (used/capacity/percent) that account for blocked slots.
  • Power summary — Displays total watts, amps at 120V and 208V, and BTU heat load for the entire rack.
  • Depth conflict warnings — Alerts when front and rear equipment might physically interfere with each other.
  • Blocked slot annotations — Slots can be blocked and annotated with reasons (e.g., "reserved for cable management").
  • Location-aware moves — Moving a rack to a new location automatically updates the location of all mounted equipment.
