Cast Member Performance Status

Tracks whether a cast member is currently able to perform and what restrictions apply.

Performance Status Values

  • Active — cleared to perform, no restrictions.
  • Restricted — able to perform with documented limitations (no lifts, vocals only, seated). Restrictions are visible to PM and Stage Manager.
  • Signed Off — temporarily unable to perform. Swing coverage or substitution required.
  • On Leave — absent for a planned reason (personal leave, contract pause). Not medical.
  • Contract Ended — engagement concluded.

Sign-Off Records

Created when status changes to Signed Off or Restricted. Distinct from incident reports — a performer might be signed off for non-incident reasons.

A Sign-Off Record holds:

  • Cast Member
  • Status applied
  • Reason category (Medical / Injury / Personal / Contractual / Other)
  • Restriction details
  • Expected return date
  • Signed off by
  • Linked incident report (optional)
  • Clearance record

Sign-Off Records are access-controlled the same as incident reports. They are addendum-only once created.

Operational Impact

When a Cast Member is Signed Off or Restricted:

  • Status is updated visibly on the Cast roster.
  • PM is prompted to update the Show Continuity Assessment.
  • The affected Role Instance is flagged for a coverage gap if no swing is assigned.
  • Show Health indicator reflects the change: Restricted moves to Amber, Signed Off with no coverage moves to Red.
  • Stage Manager is notified if they are not the one who recorded the status change.

Return to Performance

  • Medical clearance is recorded (if the reason was injury or medical).
  • Status returns to Active or Restricted.
  • PM is notified.
  • Swing step-in concludes, and the original Role Assignment reactivates.
  • The Sign-Off Record is closed with return date and clearance notes.
  • Full history remains permanently on the Cast Member's record.
